For most of 2025, progress on this block has been sidelined by unexpected events and restructuring work to accommodate some unexpected life changes. Despite that, you all have been so patient and understanding in how long this process is taking, and I have nothing but thanks to give.

For those wanting further insight into the process...

Some may have seen on Twitch that the printing block will be carved from shina plywood. This is done by first transferring the left image onto the block's surface, then carving out the black/negative space to create what is essentially a giant wooden stamp. Lighter ink is applied over the top and finally pressed onto dark fabric or paper to create a manual copy of the artwork.

While this is normally straightforward, the amount of fine detail led to an unexpected problem. The light color of the wood showing through when gouging out sections of negative space inverts the foreground/background, which makes switching between the area of focus, the guide, and additional references difficult. In other words, causing so much eyestrain that I've actually considered restarting on a darker hardwood, if that meant working at faster pace from start to finish.

I've purchased a few walnut panels as a contingency plan, but I'm close enough to completion that it doesn't matter at this point. I have workarounds, and to give my eyeballs a rest, I'm temporarily switching my attention to the patches for now (the pre-order freebie).

Either way - it feels good to move forward and have an actual timeline to go by. I'm ready to close this one out.
